Dalton’s Dance Theater Workshop (DTW) is a year-long choreography course culminating in student-choreographed production under the guidance of Randi Sloan. I participated in the program for two years, learning how to collaborate with lighting, costume, and set designers. In 2017, I choreographed a tap piece for the show “Dances Inspired by Biology” featuring a live drummer. The following year, I choreographed a tap solo and contemporary ensemble piece based on confined spaces for the show “Dances Inspired by Architecture.” DTW provided a foundation for concert dance choreography that I transferred to musical theater.
