“Over the weekend, a new dance festival made its debut in New Haven, Connecticut. Gabrielle Niederhoffer created DanceHaven to deep-dive into New Haven’s complex dance history. From pop-up exhibitions on New Haven’s dance history to master classes, DanceHaven is an event that Gabrielle has been inspired to create for years. A culmination of her love of tap, her work with “the queen of tap” Dormeshia, and a desire to celebrate Black vernacular dance, DanceHaven is a project that Gabrielle called ‘a wonderful learning experience.’ - Showstopper Magazine
“Niederhoffer added that New Haven’s dance history has largely been untold, by celebrating vernacular dance and the city’s dance history she hopes ‘to uplift the voices’ of New Haven’s dance community.” - New Haven Register

“The annual Battery Dance Festival brings the world to lower Manhattan: The 40th anniversary represented 14 different countries and perhaps the most diverse array of dance styles of any singular dance festival in the world. Where else can you find a same-sex Argentinian tango, a piece in the Brooklyn street style “Flexn,” a Lebanese voguer, and a South Korean group of lindy-hoppers, all on the same program?” - Fjord Review
“This beloved annual fest takes place way downtown at Robert F. Wagner Park, in front of the sparkling New York Harbor. The 41st edition's lineup includes multiple U.S. or world premieres, and the participating companies include visiting groups from Singapore, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands and Canada.” - TimeOut
